all the things I do with the people I love most
Just one more week until school starts! I’m stoked to go back! Summer’s been rather monotonous for me. Working full time is a drag, even when I’m working from home. School time for me means hanging out with friends, being on film sets, and getting back in the gym more often. So, yay! Last few days working 40 hours a week!
Now that summer is over, one of my lovely roommates is leaving for post-college life. So, the three of us that are left are looking for a 4th roommate. I know a lot of Chapman kids got screwed over by the housing selection this year, so if anyone is still looking for a good place to live please contact me! We live in Tustin in a super spacious 2 bedroom apartment. It’s about 10-15 min from Chapman and UCI. Rent would only be $365 a month, which is a STEAL compared to school housing/other places in the OC. We’re fun and awesome and drama freeeee! =]
Sorry for the very Craigslist-ad-ish post, but we’re having trouble finding another roommate. Plus, ACTUALLY posting this on Craigslist could yield some less than desirable results…
Join the party in Apartment 41!
This week my parents are out of town, so I got stuck taking care of the dogs – all three of them. I must admit, I really do love spending time with my puppies, especially since I don’t live with them anymore, but I’m allergic to EVERYTHING now.
It’s so weird – I never used to be allergic to anything, but I’ve slowly developed really awful allergies. A dusty old house + 3 dogs + 1 cat = a miserable day at work. But besides that, I’ve really enjoyed getting to see more of the dogs.
This weekend was pretty chill. It was kind of nice to take a break from my new-found crazy-college-party life. Spent most of the weekend playing video games with my boys and playing with the dogs.
This week is pretty weird – I’ve got dog-sitting instead of cheer practice after work. I’m going to attempt to run two miles today with my big dog, but I’m not sure how successful that will be, haha. I hate running, especially alone. Hopefully Rocky will make it a bit more enjoyable. We’ll see I guess! Just a bit more work to trudge through before I’m off for the day!
I love dogs, I love every kind of dog! (millions of bonus points if you get the reference!)
Not only do I have the best boyfriend ever, I also have the best in-laws ever!
After coming to a dead end on school finances, my boyfriend’s parents agreed to cosign my loan. I’m so glad to have such amazing, compassionate people in my life :] I see now where my boyfriend gets it from, haha!
Anyways, not much to say today. It’s so nice to have a weight off my shoulders. I’m still going to be at Chapman, yay! Still, it’s sad to see so many Facebook statuses about people having to leave school because of money problems. Funnily enough, this morning I received a comment on my previous post that read:
“I’m sorry you are having trouble reaching your financial aid representative. Based on the information provided by you in your blog I believe I was able to locate your file and get some more information. I would be more than happy to call you for a further discussion. Thanks,
Director of Financial Aid
I KNEW using the internet would get their attention. Chapman will do anything to put out a fire that might tarnish their reputation. I’ve already been covered for this semester, but if you go to Chapman and you’re still having problems, try using your twitter/facebook/blog/whatever to get a hold of them. Seriously, it’s more reliable than calling/emailing them.
Nothing personal Chapman – I just wanna go to school, and I won’t give up without a fight.
it’s a happy Friday indeed!
The last five days I’ve been out in LA for Anime Expo 2011. This year was AMAZING! I worked as staff in the maid cafe and it was so much fun! I made lots of new friends and we had a great time, despite getting very few hours of sleep and only eating once a day. I didn’t go to a single panel because I was so busy, but for me AX is all about exhibit hall, cosplay, and being with friends. I’ll definitely say that this year easily tops the other three years I’ve gone, despite the lack of my amazing high school buddies. I’m definitely going next year, hope to see everyone there again!
I would write more, but I’m still so so SO tired. 8 hours of sleep + waking up at 7am and driving 50 miles to work =/= rest!
This week I have a LOT to be excited for! Right now I’m running on 3 hours of sleep, so that excitement (and a delicious cinnamon mocha frappichino) is all that’s keeping me awake.
First of all, only 3 days of work this week and 4 next week. I’m excited, I need a break! I’m getting burnt out already and it’s not even July yet!
Second, I’ve been invited to practice with the IAG5 team at my gym. I’m super stoked because I would greatly prefer that team to IAG6. Hopefully I’ll still have enough energy at the end of the day to make it happen!
Last but definitely not least, Anime Expo! After the last staff meeting, I’m even more excited to work there! On one hand, it kinda sucks that I won’t really get to be at the con much since I’ll be working, but on the other hand most of my con time is spent with friends rather than at panels anyways. With the help of my amazingly talented mother, I’m cranking out the last of the pieces to my cosplay. I’m sure it will turn out great, just like last year!
Today is going slow. Hopefully tomorrow will pick up after I’ve had some more sleep.
I was really down this morning. As I pulled myself out of bed and groggily drove the 50 mile stretch to work, my mind was bogged down with negativity. The only things I could think of were things clouding my happiness, none of which are particularly major, but even small dark clouds can ruin a sunny day. One thing inexplicably changed all of that.
Who knew such a drastic change could come from something so mundane. I was driving through McDonald’s to get my daily coffee on my lunch break – which I ended up spilling all over my kitchen floor, I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. But anyways, as I went through the drive-thru, the guy who handed me my drink gave me a bright, genuine smile. You could see it in the spark of his eyes and hear it in the chime of his voice – he was legitimately very happy.
Maybe it’s just that it’s hard to resist being happy yourself after seeing someone so cheerful. Maybe it’s just seeing a friendly face that remotely cares about you after being alone with your bad thoughts all day. Or maybe there’s something about a happiness so pure and real that just the slightest touch of it can bring out the happiness in you.
It’s mysterious, it’s magical, and that’s why I love people. Do yourself and everyone you meet a favor today – smile!
Now that I live in Orange County, far from the exciting nightlife in Los Angeles, I decided to see what I could do with my friends in the area. I discovered this place called Sky High. It’s literally a gigantic warehouse full of trampolines, even on the walls. It sounds silly, and I guess it kind of is, but it is SO much fun. During the summer, they are open until midnight 6 days a week, and it’s only $10 for an hour. I’d much rather spend $10 bouncing around with friends while listening to music instead of sitting through a potentially awful movie.
Seriously though, this place is awesome no matter how old or young you are, not to mention it’s a great workout. If you’re a tumbler, it’s so much fun to do crazy tricks across the trampolines. If you’re not, its fun to learn some new stunts (and it’s fun for everyone else to laugh at you when you fall =]).
